Scicli city
Lesser known than its prestigious neighbours (Ragusa, Noto and Modica) but just as fascinating, Scicli is yet another baroque gem and a Unesco Heritage site. Set in a gorge just a few miles from the long sandy beaches of Sampieri and Donnalucata, it is overlooked by a towering rocky mass. It is a joy to stroll through languid, lovely Scicli with its many churches, its aristocratic palazzi brimming with gargoyles, swirls and decorative fancies. Since "Inspector Montalbano" was filmed here its fame has increased, drawing more visitors to this area.
